I strongly disagree with this, in Sweden at least. There are SO many Black Friday deals and cheap, low-quality things. Of course, there are also stores with good quality Scandinavian design and some people are minimalists, but it costs a lot more to invest in that.

For the average family, I think that affordable trumps longevity, in Scandinavia just as much as anywhere else in the world...
